This Sector of Public Works Department has been created to give technical support to the other non Engineering Departments of the State of West Bengal. The Social Sector Wing of P.W.D ordinarily executes public works in the shape of either deposit works or Treasury Remittance (TR) works funded by different departments and other organizations/ institutions.

This wing is dedicated

• To construct and maintain a number of Hospitals, Government Offices, Fire Stations, Heritage Structures, College Buildings, School Buildings, Stadiums, Crematorium grounds under Baitarani Scheme of the State, Madrasah and various types of Government Buildings.
• To rehabilitate different Government Buildings of other departments of the State.

A number of expert Civil Engineers are working under this Sector to improve and upgrade the infrastructure of the State.
