R.T.I cell was setup in compliance with Right to Information Act, 2005 (No. 22of 2005) read with West Bengal Right to Information Rules, 2006. The major activities of the branch involve:

• Appointment of Appellate Authority and State Public Information Officer both for Secretariat and Directorate Wing for the P. W. Department.
• Disposal of applications filed under R.T.I. Act, 2005. Preparation of R.T.I, related reports for onward transmission to West Bengal Information Commission.
• Spreading awareness by mobilizing field level functionaries towards disposal of R.T.I, application. Publishing R.T.I, related notifications, reports etc. in Departmental website www.wbpwd.gov.in
