Brief Report on Reconstruction of Tallah Bridge
Reconstruction of Tallah Bridge was conceived in October 2019 after conducting health study of the existing severely distressed bridge under the leadership of Dr. V.K. Raina. Dismantling of the existing bridge started in February 2020 and was completed in June 2020.
The bridge is located on BT Road near Tallah Water Tank and is a major important connectivity between Kolkata and North 24 Parganas.
The bridge comprises of 5nos of ROB Spans over 11nos of Railway tracks of Eastern Railway having 3nos spans of standard RDSO Bow String Girder and 2nos spans of Composite I-Girders and Viaducts of Shyambazar, Dunlop and Chitpur end along with approaches. Work order was issued to M/s Larsen & Toubro Limited with appointed date as 17.08.2020. Proof Consultant of this project is IIT-Chennai.
Authority's Engineer of this project is LASA-QSSIPL(JV).
External Technical Auditor & Independent Consultant of the project is IIT-Kharagpur. Some constraints were encountered in view of prevailing Covid situation and presence of numerous underground utilities including old KMC pipelines which needed to be jacketed. Total Administrative Approval of the project was 465.15Cr. Rs. 89.96 Cr. has been paid to Eastern Railway by the State Government for Utility Shifting, Inspection charges of RDSO, P&E and Supervision Charges (D&G), Way leave charges, Re-construction of 38nos of Railway Quarters and Construction of Temporary Level Crossing.
